The first step is to provide yourself with a benchmark. Use the photo paper that comes with the printer to print out one or two photos. With these as your benchmark, you will now be able to see any changes or improvements from changing the paper or changing the ink or even changing the software on your computer. Keep this original somewhere safe with a note on the back containing details of the paper and equipment used to print it. You can then refer to this later when you have changed one of the variables such as paper or ink.

Keeping your printer in top working order may sound like common sense, but it is amazing how often neglect of the printer leads to poor printing quality. Maintenance should include regular cleaning and removing of dust. The printer should also be covered when not in use. If the printer is rarely used, every week or so print something out as this keeps the ink from drying out and ensures the parts of the machine continue to work well. An annual service is a good idea too in order to keep it working well and for longer.

Using the right paper is important too. You will need a specific type depending on the printer that is being used. Inkjet photo is required for inkjet printers, laser photo paper for laser printers. As a rule of thumb, paper of weight 300gsm or above should be used for portraits or artistic photos with a lower 250gsm weight used for general photo prints.

The camcorder is equally perceptive, using HD technology for beautiful videos. You can stream videos live to friends, share them on YouTube, or save them to watch later on your flatscreen.

Sign in to a Google account, and be as productive as you wish. Your calendar entries and contacts are automatically synced with the EVO 4G. A calculator, desk clock, stock tracker, voice recorder, and news reader are also at hand. Quickoffice suite is included, too, so it’s easy to work with Microsoft documents.

Music is easy to download, organize and play with this phone. The speakers are great, loud and clear. There’s also an FM radio app, although you will need a wired headset to utilize this option as there is no built-in antennae.

If social networking is your favorite leisure-time activity, there are several great apps for that. Peep is a Twitter utility, and FaceBook is included, too. FriendStream pulls photos and status updates from FaceBook and other social media together into a unified social networking option. The Qik program lets you capture and share video with friends either privately or through, FaceBook, YouTube or Twitter.

With it’s built-in kickstand, the EVO 4G is easy to use for watching video, movies, sports, or catching up on your soaps. This is a great phone, easy to use, great for entertainment or work. The call quality is excellent, even in high-noise situations.

FaceTime is the video calling we’ve all been waiting for. iPhone4 to iPhone4, it only takes one tap of a button, even in the middle of a call, and you’re face to face with your lover, partner, or best friend. Or watching your granddaughter across the country playing dress-up. With two built-in cameras made for video calling, you can switch back and forth. One camera on the front is calibrated with the right focal length and depth of field for capturing your image while holding the phone in your hand, while the camera on the back can capture whatever it is you’re watching live and stream it to your caller. No screen name or special account needed; it’s all included.

Speaking of the cameras, the resolution of the graphics on iPhone 4—everything you see from pictures to e-mail to web pages—is crisp and incredibly detailed. Apple engineers have developed a smaller pixel, enabling them to cram 400% more pixels into the 3.5 inch screen, resulting in striking images, even at an angle. The advanced engineering produces a wider range of viewing angles than other LCDs, whether playing games or sharing video clips with a friend. This Retina display also has better contrast, giving the user whiter whites and blacker blacks for enhanced readability of text, including iBooks, as well as more striking pictures.

The touch-screen itself is harder and more durable than previous models, as well as more scratch resistant, due to a chemical strengthening process. A coating on the screen repels oils and keeps the screen cleaner.

Another great new feature of the iPhone4 is folders for your apps. Just like the folders on a computer, each folder holds several apps within it, meaning you can fit a whole lot more apps on your home screen. Simply touch and hold an app until it jiggles, the drag it into an app of the same category. For example, all your games can go in one folder while travel apps nestle in another. iPhone4 will give each folder a name based on its contents, although of course you can rename it anything you want. Using iTunes on your home computer, you can create folders and sync it to your iPhone4. Pretty cool.

The multitasker interface makes life easier by letting you switch quickly and conveniently between apps you’ve used recently, then jump right back to where you were. Listen to music or a ball game while surfing the web or checking e-mail. Receive a Skype call while other apps are running. GPS can continue to run, update your position, and give voice directions, turn by turn. The music automatically lowers while the GPS directions are given.
